Old Forester – 1920 Prohibition Style Bourbon (37.5cl, 57.5%)

Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style is a bourbon at 57.5% ABV (115 proof) in a 375ml half bottle. It honours the era when Old Forester was one of only six distilleries permitted to make medicinal whiskey under the Volstead Act. The strength recalls the original 100 proof bottling, raised to echo the higher proof that angel's share evaporation produces. The mash bill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. The nose carries cherry preserves, dark chocolate, caramel and maple syrup, and the palate has dark caramel, malted nuttiness, black pepper and a touch of cedar. The finish is long and smoky-sweet, with tart apple, toasted marshmallow, dark chocolate and oak char.
