This is Old Rip Van Winkle Old Time Rye, a 12 year old Kentucky straight rye whiskey bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) in a 75cl bottle.
It was aged for twelve years in deeply charred new American oak barrels. The grain bill is built around rye, with corn and malted barley.
The nose is of dried fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, with oak and leather. The palate opens velvety, with allspice, caramel, toasted nuts and candied citrus peel, balanced by rye spice and oak. The finish is long and warming, with baking spices, toffee, dark dried fruit and a touch of cocoa, ending clean and dry.
