Ole Smoky Moonshine Charred (50cl, 51.5%)

Charred is a corn-based moonshine from Tennessee, made by Ole Smoky and sold in a 50cl traditional jar at 51.5% ABV. It matures for three to four months in toasted bourbon barrels and is then married for an even character. Ole Smoky introduced it in 2014 as the first cask-aged premium product of the house. It contains whiskey, water, neutral grain spirit and caramel colouring, and it is chill-filtered. The nose brings smoky oak, caramel and toasted vanilla pods with a touch of clove. On the palate it is bold, with charred wood, brown sugar and sweet corn, plus cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long, dry and smoky, with caramel and a little black pepper.
