Omar Black Queen Wine Barrel Finish Cask Strength Single Malt (70cl, 53%)

Omar Black Queen is a Taiwanese single malt finished in wine barrels and bottled at cask strength, 53% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. The barrels previously held wine made from Black Queen grapes, grown around the township of Erhlin and known for being rich in tannin, high in acidity and deep in colour. The wood gives the whisky a dark ruby centre with a bronze edge. The nose shows fresh grape juice, jam, ripe banana and spice, followed by dried plum, brown sugar cake and sandalwood. The palate is rich, with unripe grape, honey and a hint of smoke, and the finish is round, with grape peel, jam and spice.
