This is a cask strength single malt from Omar, made at Nantou Distillery in Taiwan and bottled at 53% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was finished in barrels that held wine made from Black Queen grapes, grown in the township of Erhlin, a variety rich in tannin, high in acidity and deep in colour.
The barrels gave the whisky a ruby colour and a winey flavour. The nose offers fresh grape juice, jam, ripe banana, spice and roasted toast, followed by dried plum, brown sugar cake and sandalwood. The palate is rich-bodied, with immature grape, honey and a hint of smoke, and the finish is round, with grape peel, jam and spice.
