Omar Sherry Single Malt Cask Strength is a Taiwanese single malt from Nantou Distillery, in a 70cl bottle. It is bottled at natural cask strength, between 56 and 59% depending on the batch, and is non-chill-filtered.
The whisky is aged in ex-Oloroso sherry casks in Taiwan's humid, subtropical climate, which speeds up maturation. Nantou is run by TTL, the government-owned Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor.
The nose brings raisin, dark cherry and fig syrup, with leather, chocolate and tropical spice. The palate shows dark fruit jam, cinnamon bark and brown sugar, with a little espresso and mango. The finish is long and warming, with oak, spice and sweet tobacco.
