This is a Taiwanese single malt from Omar, made at Nantou Distillery, in a 70cl bottle at 52%. It is a limited release.
The whisky was aged in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in casks seasoned with Black Queen wine, from a hybrid grape grown in Taiwan that is known for its tannin and deep colour.
The nose brings blackberries, red plum, dark cherry, wine-soaked oak and cocoa dust. The palate is full and velvety, with blackcurrant jam, dark chocolate and clove-spiced honey. The finish is long and wine-rich, with tannins, dried fruit, charred oak and peppered berry.
