Paul John Brilliance is an Indian single malt made in Goa, here from Batch 2 and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from Indian six-row barley grown in the foothills of the Himalayas.
The whisky is matured in bourbon barrels for three to five years. The tropical climate increases evaporation, which is why whiskies from this part of the world show well at a young age.
The nose is fresh and coastal, with malt, honey and floral tones over vanilla caramel and banana leaf. The palate is creamy at first, then spiced with mace and nutmeg, with a little tropical fruit behind vanilla and oak. The finish is vanilla with a hint of sea salt caramel.
