Paul John Edited is a lightly peated Indian single malt from John Distilleries in Goa, bottled at 46% and non-chill-filtered. It is made from Indian six-row barley.
Roughly 15% of the spirit is peated, using imported Islay and Aberdeen peat, and it is blended with unpeated malt. Maturation is in ex-bourbon casks only.
The nose is honeyed, with malted barley, dark chocolate and mint and a faint wisp of peat smoke. The palate is sweet and spicy, with honey, cocoa, cinnamon and clove, the peat sitting in the background. The finish is warming and gently smoky, with chocolate and spice.
