Penderyn – 10 Year Old Badwolf Tawny Port Matured Icons of Wales No. 13 (70cl, 46%)

This ten-year-old Penderyn is the thirteenth release in the Icons of Wales series. It was made with Bad Wolf Studios of Cardiff and marks the Welsh production company's tenth anniversary. It is a Welsh single malt, bottled by The Welsh Whisky Company at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no colour added. The whisky matured for its full ten years in old tawny port pipes, which had held port for around 60 years. The nose opens with orange blossom and rose petals, then fruit cake, raisins, fig jam and ripe strawberries. On the palate are braised dark fruit, marzipan, toffee and bittersweet marmalade, with a light saltiness and oak spice. The finish is long, with dried apricot, salted caramel and a little nutmeg.
