Penderyn – Celt Peaty & Citrusy (70cl, 40%)

Celt is a Welsh single malt from Penderyn, part of the Dragon Range introduced in 2015. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle, without colouring or chill filtration. Its smoky character does not come from peated malt. After maturing in ex-bourbon casks, the whisky is finished in quarter casks that previously held peated whisky, which brings mild peat smoke and a maritime touch alongside a fresh citrus side. The nose combines mild peat smoke, a rocky coast early in the morning and warm orange marmalade on toast. The palate opens with clear sweetness before smoke and a slightly medicinal note appear. A fine bitterness leads into a long, lastingly fresh finish.
