Penderyn Copperopolis - Icons of Wales No 12 (70cl, 46%)

This is Copperopolis, the twelfth release in Penderyn's Icons of Wales Collection. It is a Welsh single malt finished in sweet red wine casks, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and released in 2025. The name recalls Swansea's past as a centre of copper smelting, and Penderyn's third distillery now stands in the restored powerhouse of the former Hafod Morfa Copperworks. The nose is floral and fruity, with orange blossom, peach, cherry and orange peel, sweetened by vanilla and honey. The palate is rich, with caramel and honey sweetness, raisins and figs, and a light oak spice. The finish keeps dry oak and citrus sweetness, with a touch of cocoa.
