The Headliner is the ninth release in Penderyn's Icons of Wales series. It honours David Lloyd George (1863-1945), the only Welsh Prime Minister, a social reformer who became a symbol of the national reawakening of Wales. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is matured in Jamaican rum and ruby port casks.
The nose offers red berries, strawberries and cream, with a hint of cranberry, light oak, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. The palate is sweet and rich, with dried fruits, salted caramel, floral honey and a kick of black pepper over a dry tannic grip. The finish starts sweet and fades to a dry, fruity close.
