Penderyn – Peated (70cl, 46%)

Penderyn Peated is a Welsh single malt bottled by the distillery at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without colouring or chill filtration. This is the older presentation, replaced in late 2017 when the Gold core range moved to a new bottle shape. The smoke comes from the casks rather than the spirit. Bourbon cask matured spirit is finished in casks that previously held peated Scotch whisky, which gives a pleasing but not over-assertive phenolic character to a fresh, very clean spirit. Penderyn now makes its own peated spirit at its Llandudno distillery, which opened in 2021.
