Penderyn – Portwood Finish (70cl, 46%)

Penderyn Portwood Finish is a Welsh single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in ex-ruby port casks. Penderyn distils on its own Faraday still, a copper still topped with a column of perforated plates, which produces a light spirit that takes up flavour from the wood readily. It is described as running between tart cranberries and dark chocolate, with the soft Penderyn spirit joined by the fruitiness of the port casks.
