Penderyn – Serpent's Tears (70cl, 46%)

Serpent's Tears is a peated Welsh single malt from Penderyn, the first whisky from its Llandudno distillery, opened in 2021. It is the first peated single malt made in Wales in over a century. Peated barley malt meets Penderyn's fruity style, giving noticeable but gentle smoke. The name refers to Great Orme, the headland at Llandudno, whose name comes from an Old Norse word for serpent. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The nose offers dry leaves, orchard fruit and wood smoke. The palate brings sweet peat, vanilla cream and baked apple, and the finish is warming, with soft peat.
