Port Askaig 8 Years Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 45.8%, without chill-filtration or added colour. Its youth is said to heighten the peaty character of the whisky.
The nose is typical of north-east Islay, with grassy peat, fresh grain and a maritime minerality. On the palate the peat is robust, alongside muesli, grass and charred oak. The finish is warming, long and smoky, with a light, dry grassy note.
