Port Askaig Cask Strength Small Batch #02-2024 is an Islay single malt released by Elixir Distillers, the second small batch of 2024. It is bottled at a cask strength of 59.1%, is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The batch was assembled from up to 60 casks, mainly Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, with refill casks and a small share of bourbon casks.
The nose brings lemon, roasted spices, espresso, liquorice, dark chocolate, raisins and dates beneath deep peat smoke. On the palate come bonfire smoke, toffee, bitter lemon, mandarin peel, ginger and star anise, with cherry and raspberry. The finish is long, with charcoal smoke, cacao nibs and lemon oil.
