Powers Three Swallow (70cl, 40%)

Powers Three Swallow is an Irish single pot still whiskey from Midleton Distillery, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It revives the style of the old John's Lane Distillery in Dublin. It is made from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills. Maturation is mainly in second- and third-fill bourbon casks, with a smaller share of whiskey aged in sherry casks. It is chill-filtered and has added colour. The nose combines cinnamon, warm nutmeg, maple syrup, baked banana and a trace of dry oak. On the palate come toasted almonds, crisp brown sugar, melted butter and a hint of toasted marshmallow. The finish is gentle, with malt cake and aromatic spices.
