This is a 28 year old Speyside single malt from Macallan, distilled in 1988 and released in 2018 as the third bottling in the Prometheus Series. The Glasgow Distillery Company issued it through its Singular Fine and Rare Whiskies arm, in a 70cl bottle at 53% abv.
It is a marriage of two sherry butts filled in 1988, bottled at natural cask strength without colouring or chill filtration. The edition was 888 bottles.
The nose opens with patisserie aromas of Belgian buns, cooked raisins, apple turnovers and Eccles cakes, moving to fruitcake and dark gingerbread. The palate is fullish and warm, with savoury oak, muscovado sugar, rich fruitcake and stewed orange. The finish has good length.
