Red Line Elements Amburana Bourbon is a five-year-old bourbon in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 51.5% ABV. It belongs to the Elements series from the independent bottler Red Line, which explores unusual barrel finishes.
The whisky was distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, from a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley. It then spent a second period in barrels made of Amburana, a Brazilian hardwood.
Cinnamon bark, gingerbread and warm ginger open the nose, with vanilla and honey. The palate has maple, butterscotch, nutmeg and a peppery bite. The finish is long and warming, with gingerbread spice and a little dry wood.
