Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast Bourbon (75cl, 50%)

This is a five-year-old bottled-in-bond straight bourbon from Redwood Empire Distilling in Sonoma County, California. It is bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle. As a bottled-in-bond whiskey it comes from a single distilling season, and the barrels for each batch must come from within a six-month window. The mashbill is blended from several grain recipes, most built around roughly 70% corn, with some high-rye and wheat-forward recipes included. The nose shows cherry cola, rhubarb pie, cinnamon and vanilla with a little almond. The palate moves from sticky toffee and caramel to nutmeg, white pepper and cedar. The finish is fairly short, with rye spice, grapefruit peel, ginger and oak.
