Lost Monarch is a Californian blend of bourbon and rye whiskey, bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made by Graton Distilling Company in Sonoma County and combines 60% rye whiskey with 40% bourbon.
The barrels mature along the Northern California coast, and the blend draws on stocks between 3 and 12 years old.
The nose opens with clove and cinnamon, then vanilla, orange zest, butterscotch and a hint of sandalwood. The palate is soft and honeyed, with maple syrup, caramel and baking spice. The finish is moderate, with vanilla and caramel giving way to a dry, peppery warmth.
