Saburomaru IV The Emperor is a heavily peated Japanese single malt from Saburomaru Distillery in Tonami, Toyama Prefecture. It was distilled in 2020 from Highland-peated malt at 50 PPM and bottled in 2024 at 48%. The peat gives a dry, direct smoke, with ash and a pronounced woody character running through it alongside ripe fruit and sweet malt. The nose opens with ripe apple and pineapple, followed by substantial smoke, vanilla, wood, fireplace ash, beeswax and a little apricot. The palate is smooth and slightly oily, with sweet peat smoke and ash around apple, vanilla, apricot and roasted chestnut. The finish is powerful and persistent, with ash, dry peat smoke, oak and gentle malt sweetness.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
