Saburomaru – SAB. Sunset Red Smoky Blended Whisky Extra Selected (70cl, 46%)

Sunset Red is a smoky Japanese blend of malt and grain whisky from the Saburomaru distillery in Toyama, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. It belongs to the peated SAB series, which began on 12 December 2024 with Sunset Red and Night Black. The name draws on the red sunset over the farms, mountains and rice fields of the Tonami plain. The nose opens with salty air and wood, with orange, ash, a touch of wax and caramel under an even veil of smoke. The palate is smooth, full and round, with caramel and red apple, and the smoke stays close to the sweet fruit. The finish is long, woody and sweet.
