Saburomaru V The Hierophant is a heavily peated Japanese single malt from Saburomaru Distillery in Tonami, Toyama Prefecture. It is the sixth release in the distillery's tarot-themed series.
The whisky was distilled in 2021 and bottled in 2024 at 48%. Mature ale yeast is combined with fresh whisky yeast to give a fuller, rounder spirit.
The nose has smoke, seaweed, straw, pear and a little cured ham. The palate is soft, with seaweed, sweet malt, lemon peel and black tea candy, and the finish is lingering, with gentle peat smoke, ash and sweet malt.
