Saburomaru VI The Lovers is a Japanese single malt from the Saburomaru Distillery in Toyama Prefecture. It is the seventh bottling in the series that began in 2020 with Saburomaru 0 The Fool, and it was released in a limited quantity.
The whisky combines spirit distilled in 2020 and peated with Highland peat with an Islay-peated component distilled in 2021. It was bottled in 2025 at 48% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colouring.
The nose brings turmeric, elegant smoke, rich vanilla, dried meat and waffle, with candy sweetness and ripe pineapple behind. On the palate smoke meets honey, and the finish leaves a savoury, dried-meat note.
