Saburomaru VI The Lovers is a single malt from Saburomaru Distillery in Toyama, Japan, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It is the seventh release in a series named after Tarot cards, which began with Saburomaru 0 The Fool in 2020.
The whisky marries Highland peat distilled in 2020 with Islay peat distilled in 2021. It was bottled in 2025 after around four to five years of ageing.
The nose has elegant smoke around rich vanilla, with roasted nuts, barbecue and a deep sweetness. The palate brings smoke, vanilla wafers, smoked cheese, pineapple and honey. The finish is soft smoke with sweet and spicy tones and a salty tang.
