Sazerac Rye 18 Year is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Buffalo Trace, in the 2020 release of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It is bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) in a 750ml bottle and, unlike some others in the collection, is chill-filtered.
The barrels were filled in spring 2002 and matured on the third floor of Warehouse K for 18 years and 4 months in new charred oak.
The nose is peppermint and menthol with rye spice and subtle dried fruit. The palate shows semisweet Baker's chocolate, tannic oak, pine needles, cinnamon and cloves. The finish is long, with cedar, black pepper, vanilla and Peppermint Patties.
