Sazerac Rye is a straight rye whiskey distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky. It is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) in a one-litre bottle, and its heritage is traced back to 1850.
It is the whiskey associated with the Sazerac cocktail, described as America's first cocktail, and it is also used in Manhattans and Old Fashioneds.
The nose is spicy rye with warm cinnamon and zesty citrus peel. On the palate are clove, anise, caramel and subtle oak, and the finish is smooth with long-lasting spice.
