Sazerac Rye (175cl, 45%)

Sazerac Rye is a straight rye whiskey distilled by Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Kentucky, at 45% ABV (90 proof). This is the 1.75L bottle. The brand's roots lie in the saloons and coffee houses of nineteenth-century New Orleans, including the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street, where the Sazerac cocktail was born. The mashbill is low in rye, which softens the grain and gives a balance of sweetness and spice. It is the traditional base for a Sazerac and also works in a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned. The nose brings clove, vanilla, anise and pepper, and the palate is sweet, fruit-forward and spice-led, ending smoothly with a hint of liquorice.
