Sazerac Rye is a straight rye whiskey in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 45% ABV. It is made at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, from a high-rye mash bill and aged in new charred American oak barrels.
It is linked to the Sazerac, the New Orleans cocktail made with rye, Peychaud's bitters and an absinthe rinse.
The nose has clove, vanilla and pepper with a little citrus peel. The palate is spicy, with candied citrus, liquorice and a touch of toffee. The finish is long, dry and warming, with spice and vanilla.
