This is a 21-year-old single malt from Scapa, the distillery on Orkney founded in 1885. It was matured for all 21 years in first-fill bourbon casks of American oak and is bottled at 52.9%.
Scapa works with traditional pot stills alongside the Lomond wash still, and the spirit is known for fruity, honeyed notes.
On the nose there are dried fruits, vanilla and lightly smoky wood. The palate brings caramel and honey sweetness with subtle spice and a delicate touch of oak, leading to a long, round finish with a gently spicy aftertaste.
