Shinobu Kihei is a Japanese single malt from Shinobu Distillery in Niigata Prefecture, made by second-generation distiller Usami Tatsuya. It is produced entirely from malted barley and bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is matured in a combination of Bourbon, Sherry and Hogshead casks.
The nose is vanilla and peach with dark chocolate, cacao, mango and a delicate smokiness. The palate develops sweet fruit and malt with vanilla, gentle spice, seasoned oak and light smoke. The finish is long and warming, with malt sweetness, fruit and gently smoky oak.
