Smokehead Tequila Cask is an Islay single malt from Smokehead, a brand of Ian Macleod Distillers. It is finished in tequila casks and bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The tequila finish sets it apart from a conventional Islay malt, adding a fresh, lightly spicy note to the peat smoke.
The nose is led by strong peat smoke, with lime, citrus and a faint salty sea note. On the palate come smoke, pepper, citrus fruit and a fine sweetness. The finish is medium in length, smoky and dry, with a citrus freshness.
