Batch 18 of Stagg, Buffalo Trace's annual cask-strength Kentucky straight bourbon, released in winter 2022. It is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 65.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
This was the first batch sold simply as Stagg, after the Jr was dropped from the name.
The nose is heavy caramel with raspberry and cherry, chocolate, drier and older oak, orange, green apple and cinnamon. The palate is spicy and led by cinnamon, with dry tannic oak, walnut, nutmeg and dark fruit, and raspberry and orange that linger. The finish is long and oaky, with cinnamon, vanilla, dried fruit and full barrel-strength heat.
