Stagg Batch 24A is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, the first batch of 2024 in its annual cask-strength series, named for George T. Stagg. The series was known as Stagg Jr until 2022.
It is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 63.8% ABV (127.6 proof), and each batch is a distinct barrel selection at natural proof.
The nose leads with ripe cherry and raspberry, with cigar box, old leather, cocoa and a touch of char smoke. The palate brings plum and dark fruit, charred oak and peppery spice against burnt caramel. The finish is dense and lingering, with a warming close.
