This is Stauning's 20th anniversary bottling, a Danish single malt of at least ten years, bottled at 50.02% in a 70cl bottle. It returns to the distillery's early peat-smoked style and is made from equal parts unpeated and peat-smoked malt. The whiskies were married from eight ex-bourbon casks, three new American white oak casks, two ex-port casks and one ex-sherry cask. Only 2,005 bottles were filled, a nod to the founding year of 2005. The peat comes from nearby Bølling Sø. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. Aromatic peat smoke sits over malt and orchard fruit on the nose. On the palate, campfire smoke surrounds pear, apple and apricot, then heather honey and toasted oak. The finish is long, soft and warm, with dark cherry and dried fruit.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
