Stauning – Danish Rye Whisky (70cl, 48%)

Stauning Rye is a Danish rye whisky, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is made only from floor malted rye and barley and distilled in pot stills heated by open fire. That direct heat reaches much higher temperatures, and solids in the wash browning against the copper is said to create flavour compounds such as chocolate, caramel and roasted nuts. It is described as a liquid version of freshly baked Danish rye bread, with dark, roasted aromas, a smooth, fruity, full-bodied character and a long fruity aftertaste.
