Stauning – Høst Double Malt Whisky (40.5%)

Stauning Høst is a Danish double malt whisky from West Jutland, bottled at 40.5%. It is made from equal parts single malt and malted rye whisky, using grain and water from two local farmers whose fields lie a short cycle ride from the distillery. All the grain is floor malted and kiln dried on site. The spirit is double distilled in small copper pot stills heated over open fire. The nose brings fresh hay, beeswax, honey, apple and citrus. On the palate come pear, apricot, red berries and cherry, with malty grain, caramel, vanilla and toasted oak. The finish is long, with light spice and dried fruit.
