Stauning – RØG Smoked Double Malt Danish Whisky (70cl, 43%)

Stauning RØG is a smoked Danish whisky that combines single malt made from barley with malted rye. The grain is grown locally, malted on the distillery's own malting floor and dried over heather and Danish peat, then distilled twice in small, direct-fired copper stills. The spirit matures first in new American oak and then receives a finish in first-fill Madeira casks. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, without added colouring and without chill-filtration. The nose brings soft campfire smoke and toasted grain. On the palate there are mild stone fruits, caramelised oak and fine spices. The light smoke lingers in the finish, and the mouthfeel is soft and round.
