Stauning – RØG Smoked Double Malt Whisky (43%)

Stauning RØG is a Danish double malt that combines single malt with malted rye. It replaces an earlier single malt version of the same name. The barley and rye come from local farms on Denmark's west coast. The grain is floor-malted and dried over heather and Danish peat at the distillery, then double distilled in small direct-fired copper pot stills. It is matured in new American oak and finished in first-fill Madeira casks. It is bottled at 43% without chill-filtering or added colour. The nose is soft campfire smoke with warm toasted grain. The palate brings mild stone fruit, caramelised oak and fine spice. The finish is light and persistently smoky.
