Stauning – Rye (70cl, 48%)

Stauning Rye is a Danish rye whisky bottled by the distillery at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is pot-distilled from a high-rye mashbill of 70% malted rye and 30% malted barley, and aged for three to four years in new American oak barrels. Stauning is Denmark's largest distillery. It floor-malts all of its own locally sourced rye and barley, uses long fermentations and direct-fires 24 small copper stills. Freshly baked rye bread leads on the nose. The palate has gentle red fruit and ripe cherry, balanced by vanilla and citrus peels, and the finish is peppery.
