Stauning – Rye Danish Whisky (70cl, 48%)

Stauning Rye is a Danish rye whisky from a distillery on a fjord on the west coast of Denmark, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from malted grain and distilled in pot stills, which brings the cereal notes forward. The stills are directly fired, a method that helps create flavours such as chocolate, caramel and roast nuts in the new make. The whisky is matured in new American oak barrels and is never chill-filtered. It is described as smooth and full-bodied but nuanced.
