Stauning – Rye Floor Malted (48%)

This is a Danish rye whisky from Stauning, bottled at 48% and made only from floor-malted rye and barley. The spirit is distilled in pot stills heated by open flame, which the distillery credits for deeper flavours of chocolate, caramel and toasted nuts. The whisky is described as a liquid take on freshly baked Danish rye bread, with a dark, toasted character. The nose is freshly baked rye bread. On the palate come gentle dried fruits and ripe cherries, balanced by vanilla and citrus peel. The finish is peppery and spicy, ending in sweet exotic fruit.
