Stauning – Rye Grand Danois Limited Edition (40.6%)

Stauning Rye Grand Danois is a limited winter edition Danish rye whisky, bottled at 40.6% from 14 casks in a run of 5,000 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. It is made from locally grown rye and barley, floor-malted and kiln-dried at the distillery in West Jutland, then double distilled in 24 small pot stills over direct fire. The spirit matured first in heavily charred virgin American oak, then finished in casks from a French orange liqueur producer. The nose offers vanilla, citrus and toasted oak. On the palate come ripe cherries, crisp malt, vanilla and warm spice, and the finish is long, with deep oak, candied bitter orange and spice.
