Stauning – Rye PX Sherry Oak (46%)

Stauning Rye PX is a Danish rye whisky from West Jutland, bottled at 46%. The grain is grown close to the distillery, floor malted and kiln dried on site, then double distilled in small copper pot stills heated over open fire. It matured first in new American oak, then received a long finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The nose offers warm spices and dried dark fruit. On the palate there is velvety sweetness, caramelised fig, ripe plum and toasted oak, with the spiciness of the rye alongside. The finish is long, soft and fruity, with gentle warmth.
