Stauning – Smoke Single Malt Danish Whisky (70cl, 47%)

Stauning Smoke is a Danish single malt, bottled at 47% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from local ingredients, malted on the floor at the distillery and double-distilled in small, open-fired pot stills. The whisky matured for five to six years in a mix of first-fill bourbon, first-fill Madeira, first-fill Jamaican rum and virgin American oak casks. It has a gentle smokiness and a character linked to the dunes, heath and wind by the North Sea. The nose is freshly baked rye bread, wine gums and a hint of pepper. On the palate come dried fruit, ripe cherry and peppery oak, with vanilla and citrus peel, leading to a long, smooth, fruity and sweet finish.
