Stauning Smoke Tawny Port Cask is a Danish single malt made from Danish barley, floor-malted at the distillery and smoked with local peat and heather. It is distilled twice in small, direct-fired copper stills and matured in first-fill tawny port casks from Porto.
This is a limited bottling at 50.3%, with natural colour and no chill-filtration.
The nose offers sweet campfire smoke with thyme and heather honey, then lemon sorbet, toffee and beeswax. The palate is full and smoky, with salted caramel, candied citrus, caramel pudding, apricot and nectarine, plus a hint of tobacco. The medium-length finish brings ripe plum and toffee, with soft smoke lingering.
