Stranahan's 11 Year Old is the distillery's first Bottled-in-Bond whiskey, an American single malt released to mark Colorado's 150th anniversary and America's 250th. It is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) in a 75cl-sized 750ml bottle, hand-filled and individually numbered.
It was distilled from 100% malted barley between January and June 2015 and aged for 11 years in new American white oak barrels with a level 3 char, in a federally bonded warehouse in Denver. It was cut to strength with Rocky Mountain water from Eldorado Springs.
The nose brings grilled peaches, caramelised sugar, maple syrup and oak, with candied apples, baked orchard fruit, pipe tobacco and oiled leather in a second set of notes. On the palate come dried apricot, toffee, chocolate and baking spice.
